Tecnologia e validação científica: um dilema ético e epistemológico
Description
With the refinement of technologies and emerge of formalized knowledge, specifically scientific, the questioning got strength not only for what is or is not scientific knowledge, but also its form of ordering. Structured educational development, especially in areas such as Information Science, for example, experiences the relationship between theory, practice and technology. This paper aims to analyze, from a critical perspective, the presence of Information and Communication Technologies in the field of the humanities as central agents of scientific institutionalization and, consequently, epistemic frontiers. Specifically, we reflect the risk of technological determinism for epistemology, taking into consideration the possible boundaries between Information Science and Digital Humanities from the point of view of knowledge organization. To support this exploratory bibliographical research, were used the concept from Pierre Bourdieu, scientific field, regarding political disputes internal to each field and between two or more fields of knowledge; for the debate on technology, Gilbert Simondon's conception of concreteness, as well as texts by Vilém Flusser, Álvaro Vieira Pinto and Raymond Williams; in contrast, the researches of Patrick Svensson and Todd Presner, who discuss the presence of computing and digital devices in the interdisciplinary scientific work, and, finally, in the scope of epistemology, the writings of Gaston Bachelard. As final considerations, it understands that the technological protagonism in scientific practice persists as an ethical, political and epistemological problem. Such as, it verifies that the field of Digital Humanities appears as a possibility of an area similar to Information Science or even a subarea of this.
