La cobertura mediática de la COVID-19 en la Argentina: un estudio sobre el tratamiento informativo de la pandemia en los principales medios online del país

The COVID-19 pandemic is critical event in the history of humanity. The appearance of an unknown virus caused millions of infected and thousands of deaths even in the richest countries health systems, radically disrupting economic production and goods and people circulation around the world. In this context, the media acquired an unusual centrality, since the demand for information increased. In confinement situations, media representations do not find greater possibilities of intersubjective contrast, so the quantity and quality of information become fundamental for decision-making by citizens. This study, which consists in a content analysis carried out from a conceptual operationalization of the Agenda Setting first and second level, aims to analyze the media agendas of the pandemic in the main Argentinean digital media. In specific terms, it is intended to establish the media relevance of the problem, the news thematization, and the assessment of the policies defined by the government to solve the situation.
